Katnip is a marketplace for companies seeking freelance contractors, and for freelancers to find project assignments. We are serious about our work, our business, our reputation, our people, our clients, and our network. Every contractor is vetted for authenticity and responsibility, so companies can be confident they’re hiring a respectable and qualified freelancer, which freelancers have the opportunity to showcase their work, background, and qualifications.
Who we aren’t
We’re serious people looking for serious assignments. We’re not a job board to find long-term salary positions. We help match agencies and companies with freelancers to cover short-term productions, parental and medical leave, holiday coverage, and specialized assignments. We’re not employers or recruiters; we help facilitate the process between entities that need an extensive network. We don’t allow recruiters to post fake jobs to collect resumes. We don’t allow freelancers to drastically underbid to undercut market rates. We strive to keep everyone honest and competitive.

Who is Katnip for?

Katnip serves two audiences: Companies and Contractors. “Companies” are creative agencies, in-house agencies, production companies, and producers who are looking for freelancers to partner with. Katnip is also for freelancers (“Contractors”) who are looking for new contract opportunities with agencies and producers (“Companies”). A producer can be a freelance producer looking for a new production, or a producer on a production that needs a business affairs or talent manager.
How do I get started?

To get started, LOGIN and register and set up a profile as a Company or Contractor. If you are a Contractor, upload your W9, bank wire info, and government ID. A small fee for a background check will be required. This ensures that all Contractors are real people, and not bots. A credit card helps confirm you’re a person.
Is my data safe?

Katnip’s architecture uses world-class bank-grade security to ensure your data remains safe from thieves. We will not sell your data. We do not store your data on the popular cloud services, but we built our own super secure adn redundant systems to ensure superior privacy, protection, and continuous uptime. We understand you’re trusting us with your data, and take that very seriously.

How do I register if I’m a hiring producer and a producer for hire?

Congratulations on your versatility! You may register as both a Company and a Contractor, and toggle this option in your profile settings. As both a Company and Contractor, you can post bids seeking a freelance partner (such as a business affairs and/or talent manager), and also bid on production jobs as a freelance producer.
